A Table Built on Tradition
Cafe Rio began as a dream shared between a husband, a wife, and a worn-out recipe book passed down through three generations.
In 2014, Maria and Carlos Rio opened the doors of a modest little spot on Sunset Road in Henderson, Nevada. They had no marketing budget, no investors, and no grand plan — just an unwavering commitment to cooking food that made people feel at home.
Word spread quickly. Neighbors told neighbors. The lunch crowd grew into dinner reservations. What began as a 12-seat café became a cherished gathering place for families, date nights, and business lunches across the Henderson community.
Today, Cafe Rio serves thousands of guests each month, but our kitchen philosophy has never changed: use honest ingredients, cook everything from scratch, and treat every plate like it's going to someone you love.

From First Plate to Full House
A decade of growth, one milestone at a time.
The Grand Opening
Maria and Carlos Rio open Cafe Rio's first location at 4361 E Sunset Rd with just 12 seats, three signature dishes, and a whole lot of heart. The first week sold out every lunch slot.
First Expansion
Growing demand pushed us to renovate and double our dining capacity to 36 seats. We also launched our first catering service for local corporate events and private parties in Henderson.
Best of Henderson Award
Cafe Rio was voted "Best Local Restaurant" by Henderson residents for the first time — an honor we've continued to hold for three consecutive years. Our team grew to 18 dedicated staff members.
Pivot & Community Support
During a challenging year, we launched curbside pickup and family meal kits, keeping our team employed and feeding hundreds of Henderson families throughout the year with care packages.
Online Ordering Launch
We introduced our online ordering platform, making it easier than ever for guests to enjoy Cafe Rio from the comfort of home. Online orders accounted for 40% of revenue within six months.
A Decade of Flavor
Celebrating 10 years, we refreshed our menu with 20 new seasonal items, launched our franchise program, and welcomed our 50,000th guest — a milestone that moved the entire team to tears.

With 20+ years of culinary experience rooted in Latin American and Mediterranean traditions, Maria brings soul to every recipe she creates. She personally tastes every new dish before it reaches the menu.
Carlos Rio
Co-Founder & Operations
Carlos keeps the rhythm of Cafe Rio running smoothly. From supplier relationships to daily floor management, his eye for detail and genuine warmth set the standard for how the whole team operates.
Sofia Mendez
Sous Chef
A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Sofia joined Cafe Rio in 2017 and quickly became the heartbeat of the kitchen. She leads breakfast and brunch prep with precision and creativity.
